HISTORY FLASHBACK // Starting July 19, 2001, the venue was managed by SMG, formally known as Spectacor Management Group. In November, Dolly Vogt was hired to be the Amphitheatre’s first general manager. She regularly stopped what she was doing to look around and use words like "breathtaking", "beautiful" and "awesome." She was a walking commercial for the 7000-capacity venue, which enticed her to come to Cary after 23 years in Atlanta. "They interviewed me here, which was kind of a mistake on my part" she said with a laugh. "It's so beautiful. I was so overwhelmed. That in itself was enough. Also, I could kind of make my mark here." #KBA25SEASONS

In July 2001, local council members made it clear that the naming rights to the Amphitheatre were not for sale, signaling a commitment to preserving its identity and protecting it from corporate branding. This decision culminated in an official naming dedication on July 4th, 2004, marking a meaningful moment in the venue's history. At the dedication, Koka Booth—a key figure in the community remarked, “It was kind of a fairytale week for me” reflecting the personal and emotional significance of the event. #KBA25SEASONS

Juneteenth, also known as Emancipation Day, Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, and Black Independence Day, is the day we celebrate the anniversary of African American liberation, honor Black culture and history and recognize that the struggle to achieve justice and freedom for all continues.

In recognition of the Juneteenth holiday, our box office will be closed on Thursday, June 19th. We will resume normal business hours on Friday, June 20th (10am - 4pm).
